With regard to yesterdays announcement from the government regarding the new restrictions on movement Alan has regretfully decided that ALL club activities are now suspended until further notice. ThisTo now includes our club sailing times at the lake starting from this morning.
Should any member wish to carry on sailing at the lake they do so without the approval of the club and entirely at their own risk and possibly without the club insurance. I will try to clarify the insurance question as soon as possible.
Following or Senior Management Team meeting this morning and due to the complete disregard by some site users of social distancing guidelines, the Council has decided to close all parks and open spaces where it is able to. From tomorrow (Tuesday 24th March) Needham Lake car parks will be closed. The site will not be closed to all as we cannot prevent access on foot without stationing staff on site but if Government decide on a complete lockdown later in the week (as seems likely) then we will take appropriate action.
Unfortunately this will mean that there will be no access to the Lake for anglers or model boat club users unless they park off site and walk in. Should this situation continue for a considerable period we will of course reflect this in the licence fees for this year.
In the meantime, keep safe and hopefully the closures will not be for too long.
